The Old Guard 2 actress revealed alleged harassment in 2019, but chose not to disclose the director’s name
During participation in the podcast Call Her Daddythe actress Charlize Theron He explained why she does not reveal the name of the director she accuses of sexual harassment when she was just starting her career.
Questioned by the presenter Alex Cooper about sharing your story publicly, the star of The Old Guard 2 remembered the incident. Theron He told his experience for the first time during an interview at The Howard Stern Show In 2019, in which he said he went to a director’s house for a dawn test and that he received her from pajamas. At the time, Theron He said the director put his hand on her legs and that she got up and left shortly thereafter.
“I didn’t know what the hearing process was like,” he said Theron the Cooper. “Vozinha inside me said, ‘This is not right.’ But then, the other voice inside me says, ‘Well, I don’t know. Maybe it’s right.’
Theron He said that after revealing his story, the director “was a little nervous for a while.” She added, “I never said his name because, honestly, I don’t want the story to be about him. It’s not because I’m protecting him or anything, but he was nervous for a while.”
She also explained, “Because he heard me tell the story and knew it was about him, and wrote me a pretended letter trying to explain his behavior and how I must have understood badly, what is classic, isn’t it?”
“I think he started to panic,” she continued. “And I just realized that I won’t say the name, because he knows it is the scoundrel. He knows he is him, and if someone asked me about him, I would be completely honest. And I kind of like he is in a difficult situation. He doesn’t know when the situation will come. I kind of like it a little more.”
In a recent documentary Call Her Alexthe podcast host also detailed a supposed sexual harassment that, she said, began in 2013, while she was on the Boston University women’s soccer team, and said her then coach, Nancy Feldmanhe developed a fixation by her that led to “deeply uncomfortable” interactions, including verbal comments and physical touch.
In the conversation, Theron said he was “grateful” for Cooper Have shared your story and respected your choice. “I think we need to tell these stories to understand that we are not alone,” said the actress. “It’s hard to tell them in a world where people don’t want to believe you. It’s very, very difficult. It doesn’t make it easier for us.”
