Russia shot hundreds of drones and missiles against Ukraine during Saturday’s dawn (12), aiming mainly to the west of the country, said Ukrainian officials on Saturday. Two people died in a city near the border with Romania.
A total of 597 drones and 26 cruise missiles were fired at night from Moscow, according to Volodymyr Zelensky in a declaration. More than 20 missiles and the vast majority of drones were destroyed by Ukrainian aerial defense systems, added the Ukrainian president.
Civil infrastructures, including residential buildings, were damaged, said Zelensky, once again asking “rapid initiatives” against Russia and a greater defensive ability of the Ukrainian allies.
The cities of Lviv, Lutsk and Chernivtsi were the most affected by the attack, according to the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha.
Ruslan Zapraniuk, governor of the Chernivetskyi region, suffered two dead and 14 injured in the regional capital, located about 40 kilometers from the border with Romania.
Numerous fires occurred in the city and the houses and administrative buildings were damaged, regional officials said.
In Lviv, a large city in western Ukraine, near the border with Poland, 46 houses, a university building, a court and about 20 buildings that host small companies have been damaged, said the mayor Andriy Sadovyi.
The conference has positive results
A total of 8,351 people participated on Thursday and Friday of the 4th Conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine in Rome, in Italy. Among these, 15 heads of state and government, 40 foreign ministers, almost 2,000 commercial representatives, 40 international organizations and 1,000 representatives of civil society and local governments.
In these two days, significant initiatives have been taken. The participants agreed to create a special European fund for the resumption of Ukraine, with an initial capital of 220 million euros, which should reach 500 million euros by 2026 and finally 10 billion euros.
In addition, 200 agreements have been signed between societies and European governments, in particular in the defense sectors, support for exports, health and reinstatement of displaced people, with a total amount of about 10 billion euros. A memorandum of understanding has also been signed between the European Union and the insurers to facilitate investments in Ukraine, offering protection against war risks.
