Success continues for Tom Cruise and ‘Top Gun Maverick’ at the US box office. The film has just surpassed the earnings of “Titanic” across the Atlantic.
Tom Cruise is taking a new important step. Always successful at the US box office with $7 million in its eleventh week, Top Gun: Maverick is flying past its $662 million cume. Or entry into the top 7 biggest Atlantic hits of all time (in current dollars).
First off, Joseph Kosinski’s feature surpasses James Cameron’s Titanic , which “flopped” with $659.3 million between its original release in 1997 and its 3D release in 2012 (a 25th anniversary re-release is expected in 2023). Top Gun: MaverickWhich isn’t due for a VOD/Blu-ray/DVD/streaming release until the end of August in the US (an exact date has yet to be announced by Paramount Pictures), will now try to join the $678m haul. Avengers: Infinity War.
Globally, the film is now the thirteenth highest-grossing film of all time with over $1.3 billion.
