During an interview with Redetv!, The Fábio Porchat program reflects on the ways of humor in Brazil and shared memories since the beginning of his career together with Paulo Gustavo. The conversation, conducted by Ronnie Von, was marked by a mixture of nostalgia and the critical analysis of the social role of the comedy today.
The partnership between Porchat and Paulo Gustavo dates back to the times when both attended the theater school. According to Porchat, coexistence with his colleague was decisive to model his artistic trajectory, especially in the first scripts he developed. Although Paulo Gustavo did not sign the texts, his influence was constant in the creative process.

“We were a couple in infrastructure. I wrote the texts and I ran to read with me, because it was brilliant, very funny, so he said to me:” Um, it doesn’t work. “I went home, Mox.
Currently, Fábio Porchat is one of the best known names in Brazilian comedy. He is the founding partner of the posterior manufacturer and presents the program which story is, Porchat?, No GNT. The program format, he said, was designed to explore his improvisation and the ability to conduct informal conversations with guests.
By the way, he said that the creation of the program was motivated by a reflection on his strengths: “I thought:” What can I do? I can do how to chat, improvise, I can improve people’s stories and I’m still funny […] What if I made the program only with the “Mignon fillet” of the talk shows? ‘”.
During the interview, the humorist also critically faced the function of humor in the public debate. For him, the comedy must first laugh, but it is not limited to this. “He has to make him laugh, this is the starting point. But he can also shed light on some subjects and sometimes throw the shadow. Humor is there to cause reflection.”
Contrary to a vision exclusively of evasion of the comedy, Porchat has strengthened the idea that laughter can coexist with criticism. This perspective has marked its performance both on phases and on television, where it often involves sensitive themes and social debates in its productions.
The meeting between the two humorists, still in the times of artistic training, reveals not only a friendship, but also a creative exchange that, according to Porchat, remains present in his work. The memory of Paulo Gustavo, who died in 2021, emerged as a celebration of the partnership that helped improve two of the most relevant names of national humor in the last decade.
