The congress returns to work with the chat among the parliamentarians after the arrest of Bolsonaro


Bolsonarist parliamentarians try to hinder the work of the Chamber in protest against the arrest of the Chamber of the former president




The national congress resumed legislative work on Tuesday 6, in the midst of a tense climate and strong political clash, marked by the chat between parliamentarians and protests of the opposition. The deputies combined with the former president Jair Bolsonaro occupied the board of directors of the Chamber of Representatives, with tapes in the mouth, in an attempt to prevent the progress of the sessions, forcing the work to stop.

The confusion occurs a day after Minister Alexandre De Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court (Stf), to decree the arrest of the Bolsonaro Chamber for violation of the precautionary measures. The former president is investigated for attempted coup d’état and alleged articulation to delegitimize the result of the 2022 elections.

While Deputy Lindbergh Farias (PT-RJ), with a haughty tone, asked the parliamentarians of the opposition that left the board of directors, the opponents challenged the other deputies with phrases such as: “Come and let us out”.

The opposition movement, led by far parliamentarians, aimed to press the vote on a project of amnesty to those involved in the deeds of scammers of January 8, 2023 – who earned a new breath after the Stf decision against Bolsonaro.

On the other hand, the deputies of the base for power and the democratic field went to the plenary to prevent the progress of the opposition maneuver and guarantee the functioning of the chamber. The climate was of strong tension, with exchanges of accusations, cries and attempts to negotiate frustrated.

The employment of the Board of Directors led the basic parties to accuse the immediate return of the President of the Chamber, the deputy Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), to contain the crisis. The first vice-president, Altineu Côrtes (PL-RJ), the ally of Bolsonaro, threatened to guide the amnesty if Motta is absent from the country. “If Hugo Motta leaves the country, I will guide the amnesty,” he told journalists.
