Better Call Saul’s Vince Gilligan gives a straight answer on the possibility of more shows in Breaking Bad Universe

when breaking Bad aired its series finale In 2013, after five intense seasons on AMC, fans were reassured by the promise of a Saul Goodman spin-off. We were thrilled to get more content from this universe and, with the bar so incredibly high, no one could expect it. You better call Saul be as good as, or maybe better than breaking Bad . So, in the days leading up to the final episode of the prequel, you certainly can’t blame the fans if they wonder if there’s a chance for a Saul spin-off with one of its characters And given co-creator Vince Gilligan’s blunt response, it’s obvious he thought about it too.

You better call Saul – the prequel starring Bob Odenkirk as Jimmy McGill who turned Saul Goodman into Gene Takavic – will end its six-season run on Monday, August 15 with a disturbing episode titled “Saul Gone.” Vince Gilligan shared his thoughts with rolling stone whether he could or should continue the narrative he had been working on for over a decade. He said:

I can definitely imagine visiting again. Selfishly, I would like it to continue. But without naming names, I look at some of the worlds, universes, stories that I love, whether they are on TV or in the cinema. And I think there’s a certain point, and it’s hard to pin down, where you’ve done too much in the same universe. Leave him alone.

This world that Vince Gilligan has created is clearly what he cares about, and it’s exciting that there is a part of him that would love to keep telling his stories. However, he seems to be wondering how much is too much. At some point, you just have to let the end be the end, especially for this type of universe. Gillian continued:

And some universes are much larger and more elastic. Ours is very small, Albuquerque, New Mexico, compared to some of those worlds and series of movies and TV shows. The main thing that scares me is to become too much of a pony with just one trick. Yes, I could do more with this universe. And maybe one day I will, especially if I fail in everything that follows. Then I’ll crawl. But right now, whether there’s more room to grow or not, and probably there is, I feel it’s time to do something new.

With the creative genius that Vince Gillian and his team brought into the AMC dramas, whatever “something new” you throw into, you are sure to have a built-in fan base. Furthermore, it seems unlikely that he will fail at any future endeavors, forcing him to return to the deserts of New Mexico (or wherever the next installment takes us). However, with some TVs best characters coming soon You better call Saul Yes breaking Bad It’s always nice to know the creative potential is there if Gilligan decides to come back.

Albuquerque may not be the multiverse, but fans have been treated to guest appearances of Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul as Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, respectively, in the sixth season of the prequel series. Cranston talked about coming back for Saul and in particular he detailed the myriad of secrets surrounding his and Paul’s roles. She also joked that former co-star Bob Odenkirk has changed since taking on the role of helm of her own series.

We’ll need to see what else Vince Gilligan has in store for the series finale, which is scheduled for 9pm ET on Monday, Aug.15 on AMC. Meanwhile, he recovers best episodes of You better call Saul till now with the first five seasons available to stream with a netflix subscription .
