Chantal Akerman’s feature film was elected as the best film of all time voting by Sight & Sound magazine in 2022
Jeanne Dielman, Chantal Akermanelected in a vote made by Sight & Sound in 2022 as the best film of all time, will be relaunched in Brazilian theaters in a restored version with distribution of Filmicca.
Since its debut, Jeanne Dielman conquered international criticism, being described as “powerful and radical” by the French filmmaker Céline Sciamma (Portrait of a young girl on fire) and as “a direction class” for its countryman Claire Denis (Good job).
What is it about?
Classified as “essential” by Belgian filmmaker AGNès Varda (Cléo from 5 to 7), the work follows three days in the life of a woman (Delphine Seyrig), a widowed and lone housewife whose tasks include tidying up beds, preparing dinner for your child and some tricks to survive. Slowly, her ritualized daily routine begins to collapse.
