Although the series “Sandman” seems to be grabbing the attention of Netflix subscribers, romance has been at the top of the ratings for several weeks.

Blue Flower romances on Netflix are legion and often synonymous with success. A recent example: our bruised heart. Released a week after the blockbuster Gray Man starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, the film topped the platform charts worldwide. In total, it has more than 100 million hours of views in its second week. That’s more than the Russo brothers’ juggernaut of the same period.

Our Bruised Hearts is an adaptation of the American novel Purple Hearts by Tess Wakefield. Actress Sophia Carson plays Cassie, a young singer. A diabetic, she works as a waitress to pay for her insulin. One evening, he meets a group of marines, including Luke, played by Nicholas Galitzin. The two heroes flirt, then discover they have a mutual friend, Frankie (Chosen Jacobs).

Cassie discovers that Luke is a former drug addict with serious financial problems behind him. Frankie has an idea: marriage. The union would allow Cassie to enjoy military wife benefits, while Luke could see her income. When they truly fall in love, Cassie becomes a singing star.

Very classic, using the usual codes of teenage romance. Our bruised hearts has at least the originality to focus on an issue that is quite rare in films of this genre: the American health care system, it is mentioned here. In social networks, the Netflix box already has a small community of fans:
