American managed to trace teenage from airpods stolen

An American tourist who was on vacation in Venice, in Northern Italy, managed to trace and arrest a teenage “pickpocket” that had stolen his bag with a passport, credit cards, money and an AirPod pair, Apple’s wireless headphones.

The accident took place on August 15, but was released on Wednesday (27) by the newspaper “La Repubblica”.

At the time, his wife and husband were heading to Airbnb where they stayed near Santa Maria del Giglio, just before they went aboard a cruise from the Mediterranean, when three girls surrounded the American and stole the handbag with their backpack.

According to the victim’s daughter, Karis McElroy, her mother immediately used the localization function connected to AirPods to identify suspicions.

After reaching the girls, he grabbed one for his hair and kept her until the arrival of the police. The Walker Scout, however, reacted violently and, seeing the agents, took his mobile phone and used it as a weapon, repeatedly hitting the tourist’s head, who held her.

According to the Italian press, quoting McElroy, the tourist was later hit by a bottle, suffered head injuries and ending up in the hospital.

A video of the episode shared by McElroy shows tourists who grab the alleged thief from the hair, while an accomplice tries to intervene. The girl screams, but the woman silence, saying: “I have eight children, I don’t influence me”.

The two thieves, both minors, would have resisted the local police, who, however, managed to bring them to the police station and also to report them with aggression. .
