The phenomenon triggered in the country is seen as a “real emergency”
Following the closings of the “Phica.eu” online forum and the “My wife” group, the Italian Data Protection Authority (GPDP) asked for Saturday (30) to report sexist sites that publish illegally manipulated intimate photos.
“We are facing extremely serious problems that endanger the dignity, only the representation and reputation of individuals, which involve sensitive data, such as those relating to their intimate life,” said GPDP vice -president, Geneva Cerrina Feroni, in an interview with Ansa.
The “Phica.eu” portal was overturned by the authorities after complaints by various policies, actresses and influencers that their photos have been published and manipulated illegally. The site had more than 700,000 subscribers and has created numerous victims, including Alessandra Moretti covered with MEF, the influencer Chiara Ferragna and even the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The Italian group on Facebook “My wives”, in turn, was an online space in which men changed without intimate photos of their wives.
“We have adopted measures against the software for a long time. This is clearly false, a theft of identity, not only physical but also related to the thoughts and lifestyle of a person. And there is also the problem of the pornography of revenge, a growing phenomenon with over 800 cases reported in the last year,” said Feroni.
The deputy chief of GPDP has declared that websites, publishers of content and users who make violent and sexist comments are the main objectives of the Italian authorities.
“The first form of protection is awareness and prevention. From this perspective, a great inter -institutional alliance is needed because it is a real emergency. And more resources are needed: we are a small authority engaged in a thousand fronts; we need a team of people ready to manage only these aspects,” he warned.
