Many thought the tour would never happen. Instead, their impeccable vibrations go against much of what is happening in the world and the history of the Gallagher brothers.

My favorite moment at the Oasis show was not to see them sing “Wonderwall” or “Supernova Champagne”. It was not the fireworks at the end of the night, nor the rough provocations of Liam Gallagher. My favorite moment of the night, the first of two shows at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, happened before a Carvel tent at the first level of the arena, where I saw two men who passed pointing to each other’s chest and hugging each other hard. The reason for the hug? They were wearing the same T -shirt as the 1998 Oasis tour.

“Original?”said one.
“You can bet!”answered the other.

In addition to being the summer tour, these brothers’ shows Galllagher They have been, according to all surprisingly positive reports. “There are vibrations of New Jersey in the arena!”he said Liam When taking the microphone for the first time. “There are vibrations of Oasis in the arena!” Who would imagine that “Vibes de Jersey” and “Oasis vibes” Would they be so… welcoming and excited?

A few years ago, the mere fact that the event happened seemed unlikely. You brothers Gallagher They spent most of the last fifteen years exchanging insults. Liam tweeted photos of Noel with the caption “potato”, and Noel portrayed Liam as useless, disposable, difficult, ungrateful and more.

My favorite provocation of this fight (maybe of any fight, actually) is Noel describe Liam as so frustrated and powerless that it seemed “A man with a fork in a soup -made world.”

A very high level insult, but depressing. For those who cared, the situation of Galllagher It was part of the broken timeline we live in: an idiot in the presidency, aluminum in the deodorant, and one of the coolest bands in the world outside the roads because two brothers couldn’t stop hitting the back seat.

And then, suddenly, this last problem was solved. Oasis announced that it would return to the road. As tens of thousands of others, I guaranteed my tickets, I planned how to get to Jersey’s swamps coming out of New York and tried not to get too excited – although sweeping videos of the British leg of the tour already popped up on Instagram. “There is a chance”said a friend of mine, “They never even get to the stage.”

Maybe there – like my showmate Sloane Crosley supposed – separate dressing rooms, but when they enter hand in hand, it seems that everyone thinks the same: “My God, it’s happening.” And you don’t just have to think. You can scream, as the man did in front of me.

There is a sense of special occasion in this. The walk to the stadium, crossing the immensity of the parking lot, remembers the walk to Wembley leaving the subway. There are people doing Tailgate, unauthorized merchandise and hat people “Bucket hat”. There are colors of Manchester City and adidas of the Oasis already exhausted in almost all Merch tents even before the Cage the Elephant Finish your opening show. It is a religious experience, if religion were “soccer hooliganism.”

And the Oasis It sounds very well, by the way. The voice of Liam It sounded like albums, as it still sounds in your headphones, how you remember the teens where Oasis was the background for your first drunkenness.

And they play mostly the hits, almost everything pre1996, easy songs to sing along. An unexpected highlight is “Half the World Away”the theme of a British sitcom that has never entered the US charts, but whose chorus is enthusiastically echoed by the public when the band makes room for them.

And besides watching the show, you also watch people for whom this was a wait for decades: the man in front of me was a sixty -year -old Briton; I didn’t take his name when he screamed in my ear, but I will call him Terry.

When he first saw Oasis, he said, he had just met his wife, and his children existed only in his imagination. Now he was next to this wife and a daughter (who works at Gotham FC, the region’s NWSL team), drunk on Heineken, Britpop and the time machine. “I think”he said Terryalmost tears, “That this can be the best night of my life.”

The feeling that production goes through-intentional but surprisingly modest, apart from the deafening sound and the final fireworks-is that these Oasis shows know exactly what they are: a collective exercise of nostalgia, without the sad layer of ex succession. The attraction is to see the boys together again – and you are there, you can scream the songs with them.

“You may be wondering what it is like to sing this with 60 or 70,000 Oasis fans. You are about to find out”he said Noel when presenting “Don’t Look Back In Anger”. I had never wondered that, but I loved being able to do it when the moment arrived.

Noelalmost silent during the first half of the show, leaving the pose to his younger brother, it seemed genuinely thrilled. “No one has fans like these”he said. “Nobody.”

It is not uncommon for people to sing along at a show, especially at a stadium, but the lack of self -awareness was remarkable. These two Mancunians – especially Liam – They are practically characterized by an attitude of “I don’t care.”

But you don’t solve a fight from Cain and Abel, sell a million tickets in less time than it takes to watch an episode of Friendsand creates a plethora of personalized goods by chance. You do not pay 40 dollars of parking by chance. You don’t drive to New Jersey for fun. You do this because you want to, and because it is past the pretending to be careful.

Oasis In 1996 he seemed subversive in his wide -ranging desire to be rockstar. Oasis In 2025 it is subversive because it understands that it may be a little silly to want it, but without any judgment about the time you wanted.

In these shows, while people scream – shout – “Cigarettes and Alcohol” With another 50,000, and some still search the lyrics on Google, you can’t pretend you don’t care. Cynicism is for incurable ironic, for eternally online – and the reason this tour is “a must” is simple: for a few hours at a stadium, screaming the lungs in “SuperSonic” And other hits, you thank you not to be arrested in 2025, but to be able to go back in time.
