Group from California signed with co -founded label by the pop diva at the beginning of her career and released her first five albums with her endorsement
Between 1995 and 2006, a metal band was part of the cast of Maverick Recordsco -founded record company by Madonna. The pop diva gave a green light to hire the group and released their first five records, including the classics AROUND THE FUR (1997) and White Pony (2000).
We are talking, of course, Defton. According to the vocalist Chino Morenoit all started thanks to the “scout” Guy Osearywhich recommended the band. Subsequently, they were able to sign a contract with the seal based on Los Angeles And they could meet Madonna in person.
In an interview with The Irish Times (via Consequence), Chino recalled what it was like to have the approval of one of the greatest pop music icons at all times:
“That same day, we were invited to the label’s headquarters in Beverly Hillswhere I met Madonna, which was hallucinating. So, yes, she definitely gave us the green light. It was crazy to be a 20 year old boy and have someone whose music I hear since I was 10 giving us their approval. It was hard to believe. ”
According to the musician, Madonna came to attend some of the shows of the Defton And closely followed the sound evolution of the band:
“They (shows) were a little stressful, because you knew she was watching you … One of the greatest artists in the world knew who we were. It was amazing and very, very cool.”
Nude?
On another occasion, Chino Moreno said he even has a kind of “nude” from Madonna. The vocalist revealed to the podcast The Peer Pleasure (via Metalsucks) who once won her a self -planned sensual poster:
“I have a poster of her naked at home. I don’t know if it has been sold. It’s not obscene or anything, it’s a kind of portrait that she autographed to me and I love it.
Frontman reveals that he was thrilled, as he always had appreciation for pop music stars of the 1980s:
“I was a child who loved Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince.”

DEFTONES AND “MILK OF THE MADONNA”
Last August 22, Deftones released their newest album, Private music. One of the singles has precisely a reference to the pop diva in the name: “Milk of the Madonna”.
However, the real meaning would be more focused on a divine metaphor and the spiritual fervor linked to the biblical image of Mary (the name “Madonna” refers to Mary).
