Johnny Depp will direct a film with the production of Al Pacino

Actor Johnny Depp will return to directing for the second time in his career after 25 years in the film “Modigliani”, which he and Al Pacino will co-produce.

The information was revealed by Deadline magazine, which also revealed that the film will focus on Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani. Johnny Depp will produce and direct, alongside Al Pacino and Barry Navidi. Panico and Navidi already have several collaborations together, including “The Merchant of Venice” from 2004, the drama “Wilde Salome” from 2011 and the drama “Salomé” from 2013.

Johnny Depp and Al Pacino also worked together, starring in the 1997 film “Donnie Brasco,” which also featured actress Anne Heche, an actress who recently died after colliding with her vehicle in a Los Angeles home.

The film is based on a play by Dennis McIntyre and will receive a big screen adaptation by Jerzy and Mary Kromolowski. “Modigliani” will tell the life of the Italian artist starting from a turbulent 48-hour period for the painter and sculptor in Paris in 1916.

The idea is that filming for the film will begin in 2023 and there is still no information as to whether Johnny Depp, or even Al Pacino, will star in the film.

Johnny Depp has already sat back in the director’s chair in 1997 in the film “O Bravo”, which sees him starring alongside Marlon Brando, as well as having several credits as a music video director for his ex-wife, Vanessa Paradis.

Depp is currently producing Jeanne du Barry, in which he will play King Louis XV of France, the actor’s first film in three years.

This is because the actor has faced a turbulent legal battle with his other ex-wife, Amber Heard, in recent years. Depp recently won the libel suit against Heard.
