In an interview with the Portuguese newspaper, the FLA football director says he “spent a sleepless night” while trying to negotiate with the Spaniard
Flamengo’s football director, José Boto, has given unprecedented revelations about the hiring of midfielder Saúl ñíguez from the red and black. In an interview published at the end of last Monday (6/10) by the newspaper “Record”, from Portugal, the Portuguese declared that it was a night without a night to close the negotiations.
“I have many (curious stories). Some I can’t tell you, but I can tell you here in Flamengo. I took the Saúl ñíguez from the private flight from a Turkish club that was already right. And I managed to get him off a private jet that the Turkish club had made available. It made me a totally empty night,” he began.
He followed up, explaining that negotiating with Europeans has a complication: time zones. After all, Brazil was five hours away to Spain, a country of origin of the 8 shirt.
“When you do business with Europe, you have the problem of the time difference. In this case, it was five hours to Spain, and this forced me, immediately after a match, to arrive all night to close the deal almost five in the morning of Brazil,” he said.
Although he did not score his first goal for Flamengo, Saul took over the position. There are already 13 games, the first three used as reserves and the other ten as starters. He has two yellow cards and an assist. It was in a 2-0 victory over the young man, for the 23rd round, in Caxias do Sul (Rs).
