Comic films are all the rage. Video game-based movies continued to struggle. Movies based on the theme park attractions , however, they have been everywhere. last year we saw jungle cruise become the first movie associated with an unnamed Disney theme park Pirates of the Caribbean to be an unprecedented success, but Disney is moving forward, with another project in development based on the craziest ride in the desert, Big Thunder Railroad.
Term reports that Bert and Bertie, who previously directed four episodes of The Hawk eye series for Disney +, as well as part of Our flag means death, are currently in talks to make a Big Thunder Railroad film, based on a script written by Kieran and Michele Mulroney, who previously wrote Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and 2017 Ranger.
Obviously it’s too early to get an idea of what a Big Thunder Mountain Railroad movie will look like, beyond the fact that it will likely be a western, since that’s when the Frontierland attraction is part of, and likely will involve. a runaway train at some point. Either way, the Bert and Bertie storyline is what Disney sold, so the idea, whatever it was, has already wowed some people.
This marks what could be the seventh Disney theme park-based project in development or production. A New Haunted house with Owen Wilson and Tiffany Haddish, among others, is now ready to open next year. It’s the only one we know for sure we’ll get, but many more are on the way.
There are at least two different ones Pirates of the Caribbean film in preparation we should starring Margot Robbie as a new pirate character and the other would presumably continue the story of the current franchise, but without Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. Disney also announced plans to create a jungle cruise continuation after the strong success of the first film at the time of the pandemic.
Apart from this, Scarlett Johansson was on board to produce and possibly star in a film based on the Tower of Terror. , and this film will continue to move forward despite the less-requested drama in between. There was also talking about a Space Mountain movie a few years ago but we don’t know if this project is still active or not.
While Disney has had more mistakes than successes when it comes to turning theme park rides into movies (see: The field carries Yes mission to mars) were big hits and that’s probably enough to keep the idea within the House of Mouse. And there are a lot of people who love the attractions of the source material, so if the film can find a way to fit the ride, there’s definitely an audience for it.
