Inspired by the classic starring Whoopi Goldberg, the musical runs until November and then heads to São Paulo
Inspired by the 1992 classic, starring Whoopi Goldbergthe Brazilian version of the musical Change of Habita hit on Broadway, opens in Rio de Janeiro this Wednesday, October 8th. The production runs at Teatro Multiplan, in Barra da Tijuca, until November and, in 2026, will also run in São Paulo.
The musical follows the journey of Deloris Van Cartier — paper eternalized by Goldberg —, a nightclub singer who, after witnessing a crime, needs to hide in a convent. Little by little, with her irreverent way and her passion for music, she changes the routine of the place, promoting unexpected encounters, giving new meaning to bonds and causing profound changes in both herself and the nuns.
The actress and singer Amanda Vicente was chosen to lead the cast of the new version of Change of Habitwhich still has Junno Andrade as Curtis Jackson, Gottsha as Mother Superior, Vânia Canto as Sister Maria Roberta, Tati Christine as Maria Patriciaand Daniela Cury as Maria Lazarusbetween others.
Change of Habit has direction Tadeu Aguiarmusical direction of Laura Visconti and Brazilian versions of Bianca Tadini and Lucianno Andrey.
