Santos x Corinthians: the Sao Paulo classic wins the dispute for free digital broadcast

The rivals will compete for another three points in the Brasileirão from 9.30pm this Wednesday (15), in a match in Vila Belmiro

Since the voice of the people is the voice of God, ‘GeTV’ listened to the prayers of the Santos and Corinthians fans for the classic on Wednesday evening (15th), in Vila Belmiro. Through a poll on social media, the channel left the decision on the broadcast of this 28th round in the hands of the public, who defined their preference with a large advantage.

The Sao Paulo classic clashed directly with the Minas Gerais match between arch-rivals Atlético-MG and Cruzeiro, also scheduled for this Wednesday at 9.30pm, at the MRV Arena. With widespread public participation, it was decided that Santos and Corinthians will have space in the broadcast which will start at 8pm on YouTube.

“You voted and we will have a São Paulo classic on your television screen. GetTV: SANTOS X CORINTHIANS. ALL LIVE, FREE AND WITH IMAGES!”, the channel published on its social networks.

Significant growth

The active participation of fans reinforces the consolidated growth of GeTV as Grupo Globo’s digital sports platform. In just over a month of being on air, the channel has already reached 13 million people and recorded 457 million views between broadcasts and short content.

On YouTube, the main viewing platform, the channel surpassed the threshold of 8.7 million subscribers on Friday afternoon (10). If you add TikTok and Instagram interactions, GeTV has surpassed 10 million followers.

The digital performance highlights the project’s potential to compete for space with other broadcasters in the segment. In terms of audience, the station already averages 6% higher than CazeTVdirect and consolidated competitor in the Internet sports broadcasting market.

What drives engagement?

Live broadcasts significantly increase channel engagement. To give you an idea, the recent demonstration of Brazil’s defeat against South Korea it had 7.1 million views on the Globo platform. The defeat against Japan last Tuesday (14th) exceeded two million hits.

Strategy for Santos x Corinthians

The choice of the game by the public vote marks a new phase in the relationship between broadcaster and public. The practice, in fact, not only saves previous interaction models but also democratizes the schedule, bringing fans even closer to the content offered.

After reaching symbolic figures during the FIFA Data, the time has come to focus again on the Brasileirão. The Sao Paulo classic will follow the channel’s viewing model, with free broadcast and images. As mentioned, the pre-match will begin at 8pm, for the match scheduled for 9.30pm.
