The first chapter of the final of the 2025 Brazilian Serie C Championship ended without a winner. This Saturday afternoon (18th), Londrina and Ponte Preta scored 0-0 at the Estádio do Café VGD, in a match characterized by balance and strong marking. Despite the draw, both Tubarão and Macaca already have reason to celebrate: both clubs have guaranteed the Brasileirão’s return to Série B.
With this result the race for the title remains completely open. The second and decisive clash will take place next Saturday (25th), at 5pm, at the Moisés Lucarelli Stadium, in Campinas. Whoever wins raises the national third division trophy; In the event of a new tie, the cup will be decided on penalties.
CONFUSION BEFORE THE BALL ROLLS
Even before kick-off, there was already a tense atmosphere outside the pitch. Ponte Preta fans had difficulty entering the stadium, which generated complaints from the Campinas club management. The San Paolo team even declared that they will file a police complaint against Londrina, claiming that some of the visiting fans remained outside even with the tickets purchased.
Within the four lines, balance was the keynote of the match. The two teams adopted a cautious attitude, giving priority to marking and physical duels. Londrina tries to impose pace in midfield and take risks on shots from outside the area, while Ponte tries to respond with aerial balls and counterattacks.
The first good goal of the match came in the 28th minute, when Vitinho shot from distance and forced the Macaca goalkeeper to work in two halves. Campinas’ team responds shortly after, in the 36th minute, with a header from Artur that goes over the goal. Despite the effort, the defenses got the better of the attacks and the first half ended without clear chances.
LONDRINA PRESS, BUT STOPS TO DEFENSE THE BRIDGE
The second half opens with a more aggressive Londrina. Pushed by the fans, Tubarão went in search of the goal that would give them an advantage in the decision. After just seven minutes, Iago Teles received the ball on the edge of the area and shot dangerously, but was stopped by the good intervention of goalkeeper Campinas. Three minutes later, full-back Maurício took a risk from outside the area and saw the ball pass near the post.
The pressure increases in the 15th minute, in the most dangerous action of the match. Cristiano presents himself well in the area and finishes a cross from the right, but the Ponte Preta goalkeeper makes a great save to avoid London’s goal. Despite having greater ball possession, the home team clashed with the defensive solidity of Macaca, who was able to withstand the moment of pressure and balance the actions in the final part of the match.
In the final minutes the match was cut short again, with few clear opportunities. Londrina tried to persist until the end, but Ponte maintained control and secured the draw away from home, leaving the decision to Moisés Lucarelli.
DECISION OPEN TO CAMPINAS
The return duel promises to be full of strong emotions. Londrina goes to Campinas dreaming of winning the Serie C title for the second time in its history, while Ponte Preta tries to crown its return to Serie B with the first national cup in its history.
With both teams showing solid defenses and attacks that create, but struggle to complete, the expectation is that of a match studied and decided in detail. After the draw at the VGD, the fans can expect another tense final and, who knows, with emotion until the penalties.
