Fans of the Showtime freshman series yellow jackets they were left with a lot of big questions when season 1 wrapped up in January, but the one that inspired a lot of instant speculation was “Who’s going to play the adult Lottie?” Courtney Eaton gave an outstanding performance as the youngest version of the character, and the cliffhanger eventually made it clear that Lottie is still wreaking havoc in her 40s. The answer was revealed today, and it is Simone Kessell, who recently played Breha Organa, the mother of Princess Leia Organa, in Star Wars Disney + series Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Showtime has officially announced the casting and added the icing on the ice by also revealing that Courtney Eaton has been promoted to a regular series for yellow jackets Season 2. The latest news certainly isn’t all that surprising to news fans, as teen Lottie only grew in importance as a character during the first 10 episode series.
In the second half of the first season, it is slowly revealed that Lottie may have some sort of supernatural gift and that it appears to include premonitions through visions. When the events of the finale unfold, she has proven herself enough times to start gaining ground, with Misty (Samantha Hanratty) and Van (Liv Hewson) being the first to line up behind her … literally. She has been nicknamed the Horned Queen by fans of yellow jacketsand all the signs indicate that his cult-leading behavior extends into adulthood, and this is where Simone Kessell comes into play.
Originally from New Zealand, Kessell’s filmography dates back to the 1990s, when she starred in episodes of Xena: Warrior Princess Yes Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. He has been a regular cast member on shows such as terra Nova, The crossroadsYes Of kings and prophetsand in addition to his recent work on Obi-Wan Kenobihe also appeared in two episodes of the new HBO series Our flag means death.
Simone Kessell is the second new cast member to join yellow jackets Season 2. Earlier this month it was announced six feet underground Yes Waiter Actress Lauren Ambrose will play the grown-up Van in the second installment of the Showtime series (the same ad confirms that teenage Van eventually survives lost time with his football teammates in the wilds of the Appalachians). Will she still be a follower of Lottie after surviving in the woods? We have no idea at this point, but we can’t wait to find out.
