Sean “Diddy” Combs had a scare in Brooklyn federal prison (MDC Brooklyn). According to reports published by the website TMZthe rapper and businessman woke up during the night with a knife pressed to his neck. The episode was revealed by Charlucci Finney, a close friend of the artist, and confirmed by sources close to the case.
Finney told the DailyMail that Diddy “woke up with the blade pressed to his throat, seconds away from being seriously injured or killed“. He stated that he did not know if the rapper himself managed to defend himself or if the guards intervened in time. According to lawyer Brian Steel, the attack did not end in tragedy only because a prison officer managed to stop the attacker.
The incident occurred in the same prison where Diddy is serving a 50-month sentence after being convicted of two violations of Mann Act — federal law that prohibits the transportation of people for the purpose of prostitution or illegal sexual activity. The musician was acquitted of the most serious charges, of sex trafficking and criminal association.
Finney highlighted that the situation highlights the danger of being in a prison like MDC Brooklyn, known for its tense environment and cases of violence between inmates. “He’s in a place where no one convicted of sex-related crimes is safe”, said the friend, showing concern for the rapper’s physical integrity.
