Sesi Bauru achieved the biggest surprise at the start of the 2025/26 men’s volleyball Superliga, beating Sada Cruzeiro by 3 sets to 2, scores 20-25, 25-16, 23-25, 25-21 and 15-9, on Monday evening (27/10), at the Ginásio do Riacho, in Contagem (MG), for the second round.
It was the Sao Paulo team’s second result in the competition, after beating Joinville 3-0 in the first round. The current champion of the competition, who beat Juiz de Fora 3-1 on his debut, suffered his first setback.
The performance of the Sao Paulo team today, regardless of the result, deserves praise. The serve troubled Minas Gerais’ passing line on several occasions. Sesi also showed a lot of volume of play and offensive consistency.
With a new opportunity to start in place of Eder, alongside Marcos Júnior he was Sesi’s offensive reference, with 20 points. Other good news was the return of Vaccari, present on the court for two and a half sets. Central Thiery, with 70% offensive success, won the VivaVôlei Trophy, adding 14 points, four of them in attack.
For the hosts, Filipe Ferraz had left Wallace on the bench, but had to use his counterpart in such a balanced match. He also rotated Douglas Souza and Willian at one part of the game to try to find a more consistent passing line. Rodriguinho scored 14 points, one more than Wallace.
In the other two matches this Monday, Praia Clube beat Viapol/São José at home and Joinville surprised Itambé Minas 3-0, in Belo Horizonte.
