Disney announces Boninho as “creative consultant” and “showrunner”

The director currently manages The Voice Brasil, the brand’s partnership with SBT

Summary

Boninho was announced as showrunner and creative consultant for Disney in Brazil during the brand’s upfront event, with new projects planned for 2026, strengthening partnerships and highlighting his performance on The Voice in collaboration with SBT.

Boninho is Disney’s new hire in Brazil. Currently responsible for The Voice Brasil, in collaboration with SBT, the director was announced as the new showrunner and creative consultant of the brand during the annual advance this Tuesday 28th.

At the event, the former Big Brother Brasil director took to the stage and celebrated the new phase of his career. Following the announcement, Disney Director of Sales and Partnerships Giselle Ghinsberg highlighted the deal.

“He becomes Disney’s showrunner and our creative consultant in Brazil. This plays the role of a huge strategy that will happen for us. Be prepared that in addition to The Voice, which was the launch, there will be many more projects coming, much more reality coming. We will use all the creative force, all the power that Boninho has to co-create in the home of true storytelling in the world, which is Disney,” he tells Earth.

Without further spoilers, Ghinsberg revealed that the partnership will have a surprise in early 2026: “A gigantic project is coming, early next year, which the market will really appreciate and will be unprecedented. I think everyone will really like it, but we will share it with you soon,” he explains.

With Boninho as director, The Voice is one of Disney’s flagship films right now. The partnership the brand has with SBT to showcase the music reality show could be repeated in other formats.

“After all, we complement each other. We track the entire consumer journey, not only on Disney platforms, but on other platforms. We also implement this business model in the US, Europe and other countries. It is a very successful model for us, where we bring our strength and connect with the strength of this partner. We don’t have this concept of exclusivity, we will connect in an instant with the brands that will have synergy with us for that project”, emphasizes Adriana Vendl, senior sales manager Disney.

In addition to new details on its catalog and the hiring of Boninho, the event was a draw for brands interested in future partnerships with Disney and its products.

“Having an event like this is a milestone for us in the market. We get to bring, in a way, a potpourri, a little bit of everything we have, from all our franchises, from sports to Disney+. Feed the market with what we’re going to launch, what we’re going to launch as new. There are a lot of partnerships going on. When we’re able to give visibility, it’s much easier to make this and our offering to the market, which we call so powerful, which is 360, which is the power that allows us to build these narratives for the entire Disney ecosystem,” he adds.
