Recall that at the 2023 César ceremony, Virgin Efira joked about the number of roles played in the cinema during 2022.
“By acting in 63 films, I gave myself a little chance– he said slyly while receiving the first Caesar of his career.
But since the end of 2023 and the almost simultaneous release of Delphine Delog in the cinema and the series All is well on Disney+, there are almost two years of no films and series for the actor. Was it a voluntary absence? Want to take a step back, make yourself more rare?
Before Virginie Efira returns to the cinema this Wednesday, November 5, for Les Embers, AlloCiné was able to speak with her and ask her about this momentary estrangement.
“At some point you will receive offers. Each time I found them so interesting, or it was a willingness to collaborate that meant you weren’t thinking in terms of visibility. It’s an experience you want to live with.
And then I would say that personal life took a big place. Not that he didn’t get it before, but it all got a little mixed up. Time was needed for other things. A child, in this case. OYes, the desire to take some time, that is.
Two movies in November 2025
Here I am back to all my flaws! I I don’t know why we say it to the end anyway. It seems that the desire to work and the love for it is a disease! It’s not necessarily an illness, but it’s sure to be something to think about afterward. I imagine if we always see you in the same place and everything, I understand that we ask questions.
I am shooting a film there with Ashgar Farhad. I recently shot a film with Hamaguchi, SA great Japanese director. They were really very different. It’s about not repeating the same thing over and over again. And then, you also have to do what you want. You have to trust yourself. Maybe it’s because I haven’t really had any offers that I’ve really been interested in since my son was born. It is possible. There is no film that tells me I was doing this for material reasons.”
…and two films have already been announced for 2026
At the end of November, Virgin will be casting two French films: Thomas Cruythof’s Les Embers, in which he plays Yellow Vest, this Wednesday, November 5. Then on November 26th, he’ll star opposite Jodie Foster in Rebecca Zlotowski’s Private Life.
2026 awaits him in Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s Unexpectedly and Asghar Farhad’s parallel stories.
