In the spotlight since the release of his new album, “Lar”, the artist performs at the concert hall on November 12th and 13th
Born in Madureira, Rio de Janeiro, Jonathan Ferr was chosen to be part of the 12th anniversary celebrations of JazzB, a club located in the center of São Paulo created by Maximo Levy and dedicated to the Brazilian instrumental scene. In the spotlight since the release of his new album, “Lar”, the artist will perform at the concert hall on November 12th and 13th.
Pianist first, as he himself says, composer and exponent of the genre in Brazil, Ferr He understood early on that he wouldn’t fit into the imposed mold. “I was always very questioning about the status quo that was presented to me”said in an interview with Rolling Stone Brazil.
This restlessness led him to create his own sound, the urban jazzwhich mixes improvisation and beatspirituality and street, tradition and modernity. The result is music that takes the piano home, but opens up to the world. After all, as Ferr himself summarizes: “I’m a pianist. Everything else I use is artifice — autotune, voice, poem — it’s free expression of this place that starts from the piano.”

A self-declared point of cultural resistance, JazzB was born as an offshoot of JazzNosFundos, a success in the 2000s, with structure and acoustics designed to delight fans of the musical genre. In addition to Ferrthe 12th anniversary celebrations have already included Mamokasthe first Brazilian instrumental pop band formed exclusively by women, André Mehmari with the project Choruses & Pianosand Guinga together with Nailor Beaker.
All shows are part of the program JazzB Instrumentalmade possible by the Culture Incentive Law, and mark another chapter in the history of JazzB. “We were once a trend. Today we are classics – and we keep moving forward, without losing track”summarize Levi.
