She could never play She-Hulk. This was revealed by Tatiana Maslany in the podcast Comedy bang bang. Before slipping into Jennifer Walters’ spandex suit, the actress tried her luck at Marvel a few years ago.
She actually auditioned for the role of Anne Weing in Venom (2018). The latter is none other than the ex-girlfriend of the journalist/symbiote played by Tom Hardy. Unfortunately, Maslany didn’t make it in favor of Michelle Williams, who took over the role in the second installment released last year:
“I tried to approach them. I was rejected several times. Unfortunately not for Venom, but for his girlfriend… I also tried other things that didn’t work“.
If a young woman remains quite evasive about the roles in question, it’s proof that patience pays off. Same observation for She-Hulk screenwriter Jessica Gao, who tried her luck at Marvel three times…
Luckily for us, Tatiana Maslany has finally found her place in the MCU, and we can’t wait to see her cross paths with other Avengers, whether on TV or on film.
