The series finale “Better Call Saul”, which aired last Monday (8/15), broke audience records for the series on the American pay channel AMC.

The episode was seen by 1.8 million viewers in the sum of the airing and reruns on the same day, according to Nielsen data. This made the episode the most watched episode since the third season finale.

Counting the entire week, the number rises to 2.7 million people and an average of 1.1 million views among adults between 25 and 54 years old.

That number is above the average views for the entire season, which was 2.2 million viewers.

On the AMC + streaming service, “Better Call Saul” also broke records. On the day of the airing, the final episode had four times the premiere of the sixth season, which aired on April 18.

“There has been so much talk about this final season of ‘Better Call Saul’, so much praise has gone to this extraordinary television piece – from viewers, critics and anyone else who knows what it is to offer entertainment at this level. Conclude this last season with thanks.” said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment at AMC Networks.

“Thanks to Peter and Vince and the entire creative team, including Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein. Thanks to Bob, Rhea, Jonathan, Giancarlo and the entire cast. Thanks to our partners at Sony and to all the viewers who have followed this legendary laughs. We are very proud to have been the home of “Better Call Saul” for all these unforgettable years and seasons. Now we put this series on the altar as a reminder of the excellence we all aspire to every day. “

Developed by Vince Gilligan, the creator of “Breaking Bad”, and Peter Gold, author of the screenplay that introduced the character Saul Goodman in the first attraction, “Better Call Saul” is a prologue to “Breaking Bad” and reveals how the lawyer of that series has become such a badass.

The series tells the story of the title character played by Bob Odenkirk, who lost his career and fortune at the end of “Breaking Bad”. After the pilot reveals his fate, the plot takes the form of an endless flashback, reflecting on his life before crossing paths with Walter White. After five seasons, the final phase finally showed his transformation into the character of “Breaking Bad”, ceasing to be the idealistic lawyer Jimmy McGill to take on the identity of the con man who baptizes the attraction: Saul Goodman.

The ending also went on in time to show Jimmy / Saul’s fate, after everything that happened in “Breaking Bad”.

The final season of “Better Call Saul” is up for grabs for seven Emmys in 2022, including Best Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (for Odenkirk) and Best Supporting Actress (for Rhea Seehorn).
