“House of the Dragon”, the “Game of Thrones” prequel series, got off to a good start in terms of audiences, reaching nearly 10 million people, in what is the biggest debut in the history of an HBO series.
The information comes from Variety, which reported data revealed by Warner Bros. Discovery, with audiences reaching 9.99 million on HBO and HBO Max together, after episode 1 premiered this Sunday. .
“Game of Thrones” is still the most popular HBO series since its conclusion in 2019. Now, the “House of the Dragon” prequel seeks to capitalize on its predecessor’s marketing and fan attention.
For comparison, “Game of Thrones” reached 4.2 million people in its first episode, peaking at 17.9 million people in the premiere of the eighth episode of its final season in 2019.

This is “Euphoria”, which in February became the second most watched series in HBO history, after “Game of Thrones” after the second season premiere. The numbers released by Warner Bros. The findings are much higher, as Samba TV doesn’t measure mobile devices. The second season premiere of “Euphoria”, by way of comparison, reached 2.4 million viewers across all platforms during its Sunday premiere.
According to Samba TV, “House of the Dragon” surpassed ratings on the same day as “Stranger Things”, reaching double the ratings of the Season 4 premiere, which was seen in 1.2 million US homes.
“House of the Dragon” airs weekly on Sundays at 10pm on HBO and HBO Max. The first episode of the series is available on HBO Max.
