The Rimbaud saga began in 1983 in France with the first feature film, the original version titled First Blood. The story is quite dramatic and does not glorify war at all, as John Rambo, a veteran returning from Vietnam, is traumatized by the horrors he experienced there and wants to lead a peaceful life. Unless the local sheriff decides otherwise…

From the second part, on the other hand, Rambo is given a mission: to find evidence of the existence of American prisoners still held in Vietnam. Except while he’s there, Rambo decides to free them instead of just doing the reconnaissance mission he’s been assigned.

Rambo III is clearly the dumbest saga ever, with an incredible amount of iconic lines per minute and situations that are ridiculous on top of each other. This time, the veteran goes to Afghanistan and loads a horse and a molotov cocktail onto a military helicopter.

John Rambo is much more moderate and returns to the source of the character by offering a brutal and melancholic war film with a Rocky Balboa theme line. Then came Rambo: Last Blood, the final chapter of the soldier’s adventure, disappointing and rather boring despite its short duration.
