Actor Bob Odenkirk will continue on the pay channel AMC after “Better Call Saul” ends. He ended the starring role in the “Straight Man” series, in which he will marry another network star: Mireille Enos, from the “The Killing” series.

The production is a drama in which Odenkirk will play William Henry “Hank” Devereaux Jr., the unlikely and reluctant president of the English department at an underfunded college in rural Pennsylvania. His discontent is rooted in unresolved issues with his father, a mediocre and authoritarian student body, and in the fact that his department is more wildly divided than the former Yugoslavia.

Enos will play Lily Devereaux, the unflappable wife of the Odenkirk character. He is also the vice principal of the local high school in rural Pennsylvania, where they live. As Hank’s life begins to crumble, Lily begins to question the path she has walked and the choices she has made. She will begin exploring other opportunities for herself as she does her best to keep Hank and his adult daughter on track.

The plot is based on the novel of the same name by Richard Russo (writer of the films “In Cold Blood” and “Deep Beak”), produced by writer-producers Aaron Zelman (“The Killing”) and Paul Lieberstein (“The Office”) . Additionally, the episodes will be directed by Peter Farrelly, winner of the Oscar for Best Picture for “Green Book” (2018).
