20th Century Studios has released the poster and subtitled trailer for “Empire of Light”, an ode to cinema directed by Sam Mendes (from “007: Operation Skyfall” and “1917”).
The details of the plot are scarce. The synopsis only indicates that it is a love story set in an old cinema on the south coast of England in the 1980s. The video seems to indicate that this love involves the characters played by Olivia Coleman (“The Lost Daughter”) and Michael Ward (“Gangs of London”)
The cast also includes Toby Jones (“Jurassic World”) and Colin Firth (“Kingsman: The Golden Circle”).
“Empire of Light” will have its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September and premiered on December 9 in the United States. But the release forecast for Brazil is only for February 2023.
