Director James Wan posted on his Instagram some concept art for “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”, the second film of the hero played by Jason Momoa. The images feature grandiose settings, epic battle scenes and battles between Aquaman and the evil Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II).
The film has been described as a comedic adventure that brings together Aquaman and his half-brother Ocean Master (Patrick Wilson) on a shared journey. The cast will also include the return of Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, Temuera Morrison and Nicole Kidman as the hero’s parents and, until further notice, Amber Heard as Mera, in a much smaller role than her. participation in the first film.
The cast was further strengthened by Indya Moore (“Pose”) as Karshon, who in the comics is a mutated shark with telepathic powers, Welsh Vincent Regan (“Poldark”) as Atlan, the former king who sank Atlantis, and Portuguese Jani Zhao (“Pilgrimage”) as Stingray, a never-before-seen character created for the film.
This week, the production was rescheduled to premiere from Warner Bros. to December 25, 2023. And along with the conceptual imagery, Wan commented that he liked the change.
“I’m a bit superstitious and I love that it’s a December release like the first!” He wrote.
