Actors Joseph Gordon-Levitt (“Super Pumped”) and Tessa Thompson (“Thor: Love and Thunder”) will star in the space science fiction film “Ash”, which will be directed by musician Flying Lotus.
Written by Jonni Remmler, the film will tell the story of a woman (Thompson) who wakes up on a distant planet to find her space station crew dead. At first, she must decide whether or not she should trust the man (Gordon-Levitt) who was sent to save her. But after a while he’s the one who starts wondering if he can trust her or not.
“It is an absolute dream to collaborate with some of the most talented actors in the world!” Said director Flying Lotus in an official statement.
This won’t be Flying Lotus (or Steven Ellison’s) first cinematic experience. In addition to having worked as a composer in several films and series, he has directed the film “Kuso” (2017) and, more recently, a segment of the horror anthology “V / H / S / 99” (2022).
“Ash” will be produced by director Neill Blomkamp (“In the Devil’s Mind”). Shooting on the film will begin next year, but there is no release date yet.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt voiced one of the animated characters in the film “Pinocchio”, directed by Robert Zemeckis (“Convention of the Witches”), which will be released on September 8, and will also be seen in the comedy “Providence”, with Lily. James (“Pam & Tommy”), with no preview date.
Tessa Thompson, in turn, is tackling the drama “The Listener”, directed by actor Steve Buscemi (“Miracle Workers”), which premieres at the Toronto Film Festival, and the third film in the “Creed” series, in preview scheduled for March 2023.
