Netflix has renewed the Brazilian series of the broken “Tuning” for its 4th season. The announcement was made on the official profile of the streaming platform on Instagram. The plot, which tells of 3 childhood friends, Rita (Bruna Mascarenhas), Nando (Christian Malheiros) and Doni (Jottapê), portrays the reality of the outskirts of São Paulo.

Created and produced by entrepreneur and director Kondzilla, Kond, one of the leading names in the Brazilian funk audiovisual industry, the storytelling has been successful around the world. But the enterprise is the result of the work of a set of ideas, among these, those of the carioca Duda Almeida, screenwriter of the series since the first season.

In Visão do Corre, Duda recalls his trajectory down to the core of the Sintonia script and the details of the creation process. A professional for nearly a decade, he has a multiple degree in Industrial Design from PUC-Rio, as well as Film Direction from Darcy Ribeiro Film School.

But it was at Columbia University, in New York, in the United States, and at the San Antonio de Los Baños School of Film and TV, in Cuba, that Almeida delved into the script. “My training was audiovisual practice until I came to the script. I lived a period of scorched earth, I earned little, my works were not bought “.

In his career, Duda also directed, wrote and edited “SELF,” an author short film shot with a smartphone, which had its world premiere at the 2017 Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival by Amazon Studios. The plot was awarded Best Comedy Screenplay by the Brazilian Association of Screenwriters (ABRA).

He says the key turning point for his professional development and that of other colleagues was the creation of ABRA, which began taking care of the labor rights of the new generation of screenwriters. “They began to see that many new people were getting ready. This has started to heat up the market ”.

But it was in Sao Paulo that, after acting and showing his work to thousands of producers, Duda had his first contact with the Sintonia project, with the then producer of the series, Los Bragas. “It was still an open question, we didn’t know what it would be like. It was a victory, but a risky step. But the success was huge right after the first season, then I saw the relief of my family ”.

When talking about her life outside of the script, Duda, an only child, says she is not the daughter of an elite family and that her childhood influences were daily. From the evenings at Hip-Hop in Lapa, in Rio de Janeiro, she to the desire to play the guitar of her father, she tells a little about her culture.

“I listened to funk, samba, little MPB. And the music helps me a lot to understand the script, the emotions, the scenes. A good example is’ Temporal ‘, by the Art Popular group’. I have these roots of mine, whenever possible I try to look for them ”, she says, recalling how she feels today to work on the production of a series that tells the daily life of young people in the suburbs.

“I can’t feel comfortable. I don’t know any more than anyone else there. If you let me in, I’ll listen to you. It is an exchange. You have to know how to get there. I need to know the rules of these people, of this community, I circle a lot. I want to hear from the audience, I want to know what they want. So, the trump card in part of my trial is ignorance, ”she comments.

For 5 years working with the Sintonia series, the carioca says she is satisfied with the direction taken by the project. “She has our DNA. There is an exchange. It’s not about me, it’s about the youth of the favela. I am writing to him. You can tell from our cast, they are smart actors, excellent people and professionals, with great potential. We have become a family “.

In addition to Sintonia, he has also written the documentary series “LEXA: Mostra esse Poder”, by Kondzilla and Globoplay, and also the fiction series “José e Durval”, a fiction on the trajectory of the country singers Chitãozinho and Xororó.

Currently, Duda directs his first feature film, a musical documentary that follows the trajectory of a Cracolândia MC funk. Duda also lives the expectation of having a successful authoring project on open TV. “I also want to see the young people of the suburbs write and produce their own films and series, their own screenplays”.
