A Better Life Preview: Episode Summary for Monday, September 5, 2022 [SPOILERS]

Justin criticizes Baptiste for letting Emma brainwash him into suspecting he was burned. Baptiste explains that he couldn’t make movies, and Justin feels that he should trust him. They are interrupted when Justin receives messages from Jourdan and has to leave. Baptiste returns to see Emma to tell her they were wrong. Matt can’t say anything more, which Emma finds especially puffy.

Meanwhile, Ariane steps in to convince Eric to drop the lighter and not make the huge mistake of killing Martin. Eric finally listens to her. Ariane calls for reinforcements and an ambulance to tend to Martin, who has died. Meanwhile, Eric feels guilty about bringing the spade back to the farm. He reveals that he has proof that the crow is holding something valuable.

After the weekend, Ariane reveals to Eric that Martin has signed a full confession and is going to be placed in preventive detention, while Mark will be released later in the day. In turn, Martin filed a complaint against Eric. But Ariane argued his case. Thus, Eric is charged but remains free.

Eric rushes to the hospital. She panics when she finds Simon’s room empty. In the corridor, the nurse explains that she just changed rooms because she no longer needed to be in a sterile environment. She informs him that the liver hematoma has resolved and his condition has stabilized. Still, she warns him because Simon is now in a deep coma and he risks never waking up.

Completely depressed, Eric spends the evening drinking alone in his room. He grabs a revolver, ready to end his life…

When he regains consciousness, Romain discovers that his ankle is attached to a chain that is itself attached to the living room furniture. Vanessa shows up and insists that they will go through withdrawal together. She promises to open it when she is ready.

Last weekend, Romain realizes that Vanessa is completely crazy. He loses his temper and becomes violent.

Vanessa pulls away from him. Romain then overhears a phone conversation he has with Sylvia. Vanessa says that Romain is going to propose to her that evening. When Sylvia asks to speak in her room, Vanessa just pretends she’s busy.

When Vanessa joins him inside, Romain comes up with a new strategy and gets into his game. He says he’s mad at himself for giving him bad drugs when he’s a doctor. He admits to overhearing his conversation with Sylvia, and even if he wasn’t necessarily thinking about marriage, he claims it’s obvious given what Vanessa is doing for him.

A little later, Romain, still in love, gets down on one knee and asks Vanessa to marry him. This is in heaven. Romain wants to give her the engagement ring she inherited from her mother and has to pick it up from her roommate. But Vanessa prefers to go alone, believing that Romain is not in a good state yet. The young man hides his disappointment and agrees to her terms. He tells her that the ring is hidden in a blue shoebox in her dressing room.

While waiting for Myrtle in the lobby of the Zephyr, Luna’s father is interviewed by Luna, who tells him of her concerns about her mother. He is really wary of the priest. When Mirta joins him, she states that she is disappointed with her daughter’s behavior.

Mirta insists that they settle down on the terrace of the Mistral bar and hopes that her neighborhood friends will respect her relationship, which she is now about to go public with. Father Luke accepts, especially since he always had a habit of teasing.

Inside the bar, Leo and Blanche share their thoughts on how Myrtle and Per Leak appear together, unlike Claire, who advocates tolerance. Mirta, on the other hand, tries to somehow get Leo’s attention so she can serve him. Father Luke finally returns. The lion pretends to be busy. Mirta decides to leave. Father Luke follows, only after politely returning Leo and Blanche to their seats.

Mirta and her boyfriend go for a walk together and try to imagine a future together without worrying about when they will say. Father Luke declares that he is ready to face his hierarchy.
