Actors Nicolas Cage (“The Weight of Talent”) and Joel Kinnaman (“Suicide Squad”) will star in the thriller “Sympathy for the Devil”.
The plot will follow a boy known only as The Driver (Kinnaman) who finds himself involved in a game of cat and mouse after being forced to drive for a mysterious man identified as The Passenger (Cage).
The synopsis does not reveal many details, but the plot described seems to mix elements of the horror “Death Hitchhiking” (1986) with the thriller “Collateral” (2004).
“Sympathy for the Devil” was written by Luke Paradise (writer of the previously unreleased “Lost on A Mountain in Maine”) and will be directed by Yuval Adler (“The Secrets We Keep”).
“This is a tour de force with two extraordinary actors,” producer Allan Ungar (“Cornered”) said in an official statement. “As the acclaimed director, Yuval assembled the perfect cast and brought a unique and bold vision to this film that is sure to captivate audiences.”
The film doesn’t have a release date yet.
Nicolas Cage is involved in several projects, including “Butcher’s Crossing”, a western about buffalo hunting that will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, and “Renfield”, a comedy set in the universe of “Dracula”, which will be released in cinema. Americans on April 14, 2023.
Joel Kinnaman, meanwhile, will soon be seen in the action thriller “Silent Night”, directed by Chinese director John Woo (“Mission: Impossible 2”), yet without a preview date.
