The “No Remorse” actress will star in the new “Star Wars” series.

Actress Jodie Turner-Smith (“No Remorse”) is finalizing a deal to join Amandla Stenberg (“The Hate You Sow”) in the upcoming Disney + “Star Wars” series, “The Acolyte”. The information comes from the Deadline website, which found the deal with its sources in the production.

Officially, Stenberg is the only confirmed cast member so far in this project. But his character is also unknown, which makes “The Acolyte” the most reserved “Star Wars” series.

It is worth mentioning, however, that the acolyte name is already used in the “Star Wars” universe to designate apprentices of the Sith Lords, who show a penchant for developing the dark side of the Force.

Created by Leslye Headland (the creator of “Russian Doll” on Netflix), the new series aims to explore the sinister secrets and powers emerging in the last days of the Republic, with an emphasis on the evil aspects of the Force.

The fact that the first two names aired for the cast are black actresses suggests a declaration of war against the dark side of the “Star Wars” fandom, which has systematically attacked the non-white actors of the franchise. Lucasfilm shouldn’t be happy to see the name of its billion dollar space franchise associated with racism on social media. And it may want to change the game, become synonymous with inclusion.

Jodie Turner-Smith already has tanned skin against the racist reactions of social networks, after starring in the series “Anne Boleyn: The Queen”, in which she became the first black interpreter of Henry VIII’s second wife.
