The producers anticipated the sexist comments
SPOILERS FOR 1×03 OF ‘SHE-HULK: LAWYER HULKA’
Kat Coiro, executive producer of ‘She Hulk: Lawyer Hulka’ has responded to the scene in the third episode that anticipated the toxic reaction of Marvel trolls on the Internet with sexist and macho comments.
The third episode of the Disney + directly lampoons the ridiculous reaction to the superheroine when Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) pokes fun at crude social media comments about ‘She-Hulk.’
In the images you can see haters of the show saying that they are “fed up” with Marvel transforming their superheroes into female versionsthat they “invent” female characters for no reason and sexist comments of the kind “Well I gave him“.
In previous episodes, Jennifer Walters also complained about the nickname given to him by people, ‘She-Hulk’, for being too reductionist.
Talking to Digital Spy, Coiro acknowledged that the editorial team anticipated the sexist reaction and wanted to denounce it.
“We always knew that having a female superhero tackle all these hot topics would generate a lot of hate on the internet, and was written into the script for the show, and that’s why it doesn’t really bother us. because it’s to be expected,” she said.
“The hope is that people watch the show and just have fun.”
Much of the backlash against ‘She-Hulk’ stems from sexist Youtube videos that they criticize her for “woke” (a term that refers to “waking up” and realizing the privileges of class, race or gender)a complaint the writers anticipated and responded to within the show’s narrative by having Jennifer Walters break the fourth wall.
This week’s episode also had a pretty epic cameo in its post-credits sequence. ‘She-Hulk’ Star Jameela Jamil Helped Make Rapper Megan Thee Stallion’s Cameo Happen since he had worked with the singer in another program.
“Her character was written as a famous person who we would never believe would date Dennis Bukowski,” the producer revealed.
Jennifer Walters’ dance partner definitely deserves the hilarious introduction they get in the post-credits scene.
‘She-Hulk: Lawyer She-Hulk airs on Disney+with new episodes premiering every Thursday.
