Marvel has revealed who will direct the new “Fantastic Four” movie. In an announcement at D23, Disney’s annual convention, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige confirmed that Matt Shakman, who directs all episodes of the “WandaVision” series, will lead the production.
The director’s name had already been unofficially confirmed by a rival studio. Paramount Pictures teased the news by saying that Shakman had given up directing the next film in the “Star Trek” series. This happened in late August, the day after the director’s name leaked to the press as the likely director of “Fantastic Four”.
The release is scheduled for November 2024.
The audience, who already knew the “news,” were waiting for Feige to reveal the cast, but the Marvel presentation had less news than expected. Short and with most of the videos limited to the event – scenes from “The Marvels”, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, “Iron Heart” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” have not been officially released -, the studio “disappointed” its unusual audience, who expected more, much more from the blockbuster blockbuster.
