Q23: What are the next Pixar movies?

Pixar’s Pete Docter didn’t skimp on the ads. With the right to Inside Out 2, one of the studio’s biggest hits, animation fans have been thrilled with the roster of upcoming releases.

First, directors Peter Sohn and Denise Ream joined Docter on stage to talk about it ELEMENTS, an all-new and original film due out in June 2023. Sohn, who directs the film, shared the personal inspiration behind the film: a story of immigrants chasing their dreams in beautiful neighborhoods where language and culture merge. The filmmakers presented the characters of Elements, set in a city where the inhabitants of fire, water, earth and air coexist.

the directors of WIN OR LOSE, Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates, took a closer look at Pixar’s first long series and what inspired it. Win or Lose follows Pickles, a mixed high school softball team, in the week leading up to the league game. Each episode takes place in the same week, highlighting the perspective of a different main character – players, parents, referee – each reflecting a unique visual style.

After flashing lights and a creepy message saying “Bring us your leader”, Docter welcomed director Adrian Molina and producer Mary Alice Drumm to the stage to show plans for the original film for the first time. HELIUM. In the story, the dreamy 11-year-old Elio is artistic, creative, introspective and has a hard time finding his place. Meanwhile, Mom Olga, who runs a top secret military project, is working to decode a strange signal from space. But it is Elio who establishes a contact, transported into space and then mistaken for an intergalactic ambassador from Earth.

Before Docter could finish the Pixar part of the show, he heard a voice inside his head. Fortunately, it was Joy’s voice, Amy Poehler, who arrived on stage to applause, especially when she announced to the audience that FUN MIND 2 is in production at Pixar. Director Kelsey Mann, producer Mark Nielsen and screenwriter Meg LeFauve are hard at work on the new adventure in the head of the now teenager Riley, who may or may not feel all kinds of emotions.
