Marvel unveiled new images of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever during D23.
This first clip shows Ramonda (Angela Bassett) sitting on a throne during a congressional hearing. Its visitors require access to Wakanda’s vibranium. To which the queen refuses. A team of special forces then attempt to force their way into a precious metal refinery, but are repelled by Dora Milaje Okoye (Danai Gurira).
Angela Bassett and Winston Duke came to perform this first cut on the Disney Convention stage. An interpreter for T’Challa’s mother (Chadwick Boseman) said:It was a great experience shooting this film with the entire cast. It takes a lot of magic to make all of this happen. And that’s thanks to our fiery leaders, Ryan and Chadwick, who have been with us every step of the way. We had to reach his level of excellence.”
Winston Duke, for his part, expressed similar enthusiasm: “We are back. I can’t wait for everyone to experience Wakanda Forever soon after Infinity Wars, Endgame and everything that has come before.”
He who attributes his qualities to M’Baku added: “TOutside is bigger, better and newer. I’m not the most tech savvy character, but here he is hilarious and unlike anything you’ve ever seen.”
Angela Bassett in “Black Panther: Waka, and Forever”
Released in 2018, Black Panther grossed $1.3 billion at the international box office. A sequel was soon announced, but after the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman in August 2020, the film was completely rewritten. In Black Panther 2, the nation of Wakanda, mourning the loss of its king’s guardianship, will be pitted against world powers that seek to interfere with the kingdom’s decisions.
The feature film is again directed by Ryan Coogler and pays homage to Chadwick Boseman. The actor was also honored at D23’s Disney Legends presentation ceremony. Her brother Derek Boseman was on stage and said:I wish he was here to accept this award. His absence is an immense pain for my whole family“.
Black Panther 2 is scheduled to hit our theaters on November 9 filming last weekend to add some extra scenes with Namor’s (Tenoch Huerta) character.
