Thati Lopes becomes the “rented wife” of Caio Castro. watch the trailer

Netflix has released the first trailer for “Esposa de Aluguel”, a new Brazilian comedy reminiscent of an old afternoon session.

The film features Caio Castro (“New World”) as a confirmed bachelor who has never been deeply involved with any woman other than his mother and three sisters. But after learning that he is about to die, the controlling mother makes one last request: to see him married. And to avoid being excluded from the will, the bachelor decides to hire an actress (Thati Lopes, from “Diários de Intercâmbio”) to pretend to be his girlfriend.

But he starts to improvise and does everything differently from what was agreed. And to everyone’s surprise, the matriarch is delighted, that she even hands over the keys to a coveted family property to the couple.

While the premise is familiar, with an unsurprisingly happy ending, the plot appears to include new twists. Furthermore, Thati Lopes’ talent for humor has already managed to make a lemonade with another Beaten Afternoon Session, “Socorro, Virei uma Garota!”.

“Esposa de Aluguel” has a screenplay by Fil Braz (“Minha Mãe é uma Peça 3”), directed by Cris D’Amato (“Father in Double”) and also has in the cast Mariana Xavier (also from “Minha Mãe é uma Piece 3 “), Gabi Lopes (” The Girl Who Killed Her Parents “) and Danielle Winits (” It’s all right for Christmas to come “).

The first is scheduled for 11 October.
