Actress Maya Hawke, who played Robin Buckley on the Stranger Things series, said she would go out of her way to see a spin-off series focusing on Robin and Steve (a character played by Joe Keery).
“Normally I wouldn’t be a supporter of a spin-off series, but if I could do it with Joe Keery, I’d do anything,” Hawke said in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine. “He is a very good colleague and I would do anything with him.”
Of course, if Robin doesn’t die in the next few chapters. Which she too would approve. “I’d like to die and have my heroin moment,” she said. “I would like to die with honor, as any actor would.”
However, the chances of him dying next season are pretty slim, as the creators and showrunners of the series, the Duffer Brothers, don’t usually kill their main characters.
“The reason they write so well, for me and for everyone else, is because they fall in love with their actors and characters and don’t want to kill them,” he explained. “I think it’s a nice quality they have and I wouldn’t want it to go away.”
Faced with the survival of his character, the possibility of a spin-off series opens up. And knowing that the Duffers are indeed planning a spin-off of “Stranger Things”, the actress suggests it could be a coming-of-age story, which would see Robin and Steve in New York, where they would go to parties and try to find their place. in the 1990s.
Of course, that would also depend on the future of Steve’s character, who declared his love for Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) in season four. “I think Robin definitely wants what would make Steve happier, and she appears to be Nancy,” she said.
The actress also admitted that, unlike her character, she herself isn’t a fan of Steve and Nancy. She argues that love affairs are secondary to “Strangers Things” and that the series is, in fact, all about friendship.
“There is an overemphasis in the media on romantic love and that this is the final destination we all have to reach,” he said. “Find the perfect person and then everything is fine and the story ends. Part of me wishes the story didn’t end, but there is something about our heroines who always have these endings – which is finding the right person – that I don’t. I like.”
And, according to her, this is the greatest quality of “Stranger Things”. “I think the show is really wonderful in that sense, because it has all these beautiful friendships. I hope Nancy has an ending, whether it’s Jonathan or Steve, it’s rewarding that way too.”
The fifth and final season of “Stranger Things” doesn’t have a premiere date yet. The previous four seasons can be seen on Netflix.
Maya Hawke has several outside of the series, including the movie “Punishers”, starring Sophie Turner (“Game of Thrones”) and Sarah Michelle Gellar (“The Crazy Ones”), which opens this Friday (9/16) . Netflix. In addition, she has also dedicated herself to her singing career.
