Continuing the story of ‘The Karate Kid’ films, the ‘Cobra Kai’ series brought back many of the original characters and while Ralph Macchio explained who else could be returning for the Netflix series, here are who have appeared so far .
Ali Mills from “The Karate Kid” to “Cobra Kai”
The girlfriend first of Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and later of Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), in “The Karate Kid” (1984) always stayed in Johnny’s mind. for ‘Cobra Kai’ events contact her on Facebook.
Although previously mentioned, she finally returns in season three when she agrees to see Johnny again and go out with him, but more than a love date, she helps him think about and accept his feelings for Miguel’s mother.
Mike Barnes from “The Karate Kid Part III” in “Cobra Kai”
Season 5 has Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) as the main antagonist and his apprentice for hire in “The Karate Kid Part III” (1989), villainous Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan), who returns for the series.
After 30 years, Mike Barnes has redeemed himself from his fight against Daniel LaRusso and is now the co-owner of a furniture store, but trying to help Daniel brings dire consequences and Terry’s revenge.
Jessica Andrews from “The Karate Kid Part III” returns to “Cobra Kai”
The series did not explain how Daniel and his wife Amanda LaRusso met until season 5 revealed that Amanda is the cousin of Jessica Andrews, Daniel’s romantic interest in “The Karate Kid Part III” (1989).
In the 1989 film, Jessica meets Daniel when she sells him pots for Mr. Miyagi’s bonsai and is his partner in his adventures against Terry Silver, though she eventually leaves Los Angeles for Ohio.
When they break up, Amanda’s cousin moves to Los Angeles and Jessica puts her in touch with Daniel to have an acquaintance in the city. From there their love was born and they ended up getting married and having two children.
Chozen in Netflix’s “Cobra Kai.”
Chozen Toguchi’s character is the villain of “The Karate Kid Part II” (1986) and confronts Daniel when he travels with Mr. Miyagi to Okinawa. Although they have a duel to the death, the experience serves to make Chozen good.
More than 30 years later Daniel returns to Okinawa in “Cobra Kai” and reunites with Chozen, who is a changed man, full of honor and who has followed the legacy of Miyagi-do Karate.
For the fifth season, Chozen becomes a central character traveling to the United States to help his now friend Daniel and defeat Terry Silver and the extended Cobra Kai dojos.
The original students of the Cobra Kai dojo
In one of the most emotional cameos due to its real-life significance, Bobby, Jimmy and Tommy, Johnny’s friends and comrades in the Cobra Kai dojo, reappear in the original 1984 film.
Friends gather to talk and reminisce after Tommy is diagnosed with terminal cancer. In real life, his actor Tommy (Rob Garrison) also had this condition and passed away shortly after the second season premiered.
Randee Heller Reappears as Lucille LaRusso in ‘Cobra Kai’
Daniel’s mother is the one who starts the whole plot of the “Karate Kid” saga, because of her new job she moves with her son to Reseda, Los Angeles, California and in their new apartments they meet Mr. Miyagi.
For “Cobra Kai,” Daniel’s mother has few scenes, but when she appears at a family dinner, fans recognize her as Randee Heller, the same actress who brought the character to life more than 30 years ago.
Tamlyn Tomita as Kumiko in “Cobra Kai”
In “The Karate Kid Part II” (1986) Daniel meets Kumiko in Okinawa, the niece of Mr. Miyagi’s old girlfriend and becomes his love interest.
In “Cobra Kai” Daniel meets Kumiko in Okinawa and the old friends chat over drinks. He gives him some letters from Mr. Miyagi and also makes Daniel and Chozen meet again.
Another character Daniel meets on his trip to Okinawa in the second film is Yuni, a little girl whose life he saves during a typhoon that destroys many of the houses in Mr. Miyagi’s town.
In “Cobra Kai,” actress Traci Toguchi reprises her role as the adult Yuni and, as a prominent businesswoman, helps Daniel save his car company in the United States.
