HBO has released the trailer for the sixth episode of “House of the Dragon”, which records a 10-year time jump in the narrative. The preview features a change of performers, bringing Emma D’Arcy (from “Truth Seekers”) and Olivia Cooke (from “Bates Motel”) to the roles of Rhaenyra and Alicent respectively.
The video also shows the elderly and weakened King Viserys (Paddy Considine), as well as his children with Alicent grown up and trying to follow family traditions with their own dragons.
The first spin-off of the “Game of Thrones” phenomenon (2011-2019) follows the Targaryen family, the clan of Daenerys, 200 years before the events of the original series, and focuses on the succession crisis of King Viserys (Paddy Considine , of “Peaky Blinders”), with plots, battles, betrayals, dragons and an epic climate.
The dispute arises because Viserys chose his daughter, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen as heir to the Iron Throne. Although she is ready to reign from childhood, her rise is not accepted by those who prefer one man to power: the king’s brother, Prince Daemon Targaryen, played by Matt Smith (“Doctor Who”).
A ratings phenomenon, the series was renewed for a second season five days after its premiere. The inaugural episode was seen by 20 million viewers in the United States during this period, and information from HBO indicates that each new chapter has seen even more viewers.
