Zendaya’s success at the Emmys seems to have galvanized HBO into the idea of continuing Euphoria beyond a third season, which has already been ordered. Despite behind-the-scenes wrangling between showrunner Sam Levinson and his cast — especially before the departure of Barbi Ferreira (Kathy) — the series may continue for a few more years.
This was announced by Casey Blois, HBO’s Chief Content Officer Deadline. According to the American media, the teams will work on the development of the series, and its characters will soon finish their school careers.
Zendaya herself has made no secret of her desire to play Rue beyond high school. After a repeat in season 2, the young girl is a long way from being free of addiction and still has beautiful things to say.
Zendaya, Hunter Shafer, or even Sydney Sweeney will hit the set for the Euphoria sequel in March 2023. So we will have to wait until 2024 to find Rue, Cassie, Jules and others.
