At this dangerous age, Cassian Andor is on a path that will make him a hero of the rebellion.
Andor was created by Tony Gilroy with Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgård and Genevieve O’Reilly. Available on Disney+.
In the Star Wars Chronicles, Andor is a prequel to the film RogueOne, itself considered a prequel to George Lucas’ original trilogy. Already featured in the credits of Gareth Edwards’ feature film, Diego Luna returns as Cassian Andor, this illegal mercenary destined to become one of the pillars of the upcoming rebellion.
Next to him we meet a cast of newcomers to the Star Wars galaxy: especially Stellan Skarsgård in the role of Luten Rael (Andor’s mentor), Kyle Soler as Cyril Carney, an ambitious officer of the Imperial Army, or even. Fiona Shaw, who portrays Maarva, the hero’s spiritual mother.
But for fans of the Star Wars universe, familiar faces are also returning. In particular, the rebellious senator Mont Mott, played by Genevieve O’Reilly, or the iconic Sao Guerrera, played by Forest Whitaker.

The best Star Wars series?
To put it bluntly: Andor is undoubtedly the best TV series to date. Like Rogue One, which many fans consider to be Disney’s most successful Star Wars film, this new installment stands out from the rest of the franchise. live action Previously aired (The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi) for a darker and more mature sound.
The series opens in the slums of a bleak neighborhood on a distant planet. After a run-in with several brothel customers, Cassian Andor doesn’t hesitate to grab a gun to kill two employees in cold blood; Unlucky for him, the latter was nothing more than an empire determined to have a good time while on vacation.
We’ve never seen a version of Star Wars like this, either on film or on television. A real tour, because we have to admit that Andor was not – at least on paper – the series that we expected the most from the Star Wars projects developed by the Disney + platform.
Obviously, series creator Tony Gilroy (who previously oversaw multiple productions of Rogue One) was given complete freedom, including the opportunity to write a story about new characters without the presence of more iconic characters, for the sole pleasure of satisfying fans. .

So in many ways, Andor doesn’t feel like your average Star Wars series. Adding to the complexity of its plot and the nuances of the concepts of good and evil, the series chooses not one hero, but rather several characters, and thus explores both the premise of the Rebellion rather than the Imperial Army.
Four episodes in, Andor looks like everything we could hope for, and maybe more. In addition to its absolutely fascinating story, the series is also more visually accomplished than previous Star Wars TV productions, especially because the choice was made to shoot it in natural environments (rather than exclusively in studios, with LED screens to recreate the exterior scenery).
We have to admit: we’ve lost hope that Star Wars will once again turn into a saga that isn’t limited to stories of Jedi and Light battles. That’s why it goes without saying that Andor will offer new hope to those who thought they couldn’t be surprised by the saga after Disney bought it. There is no doubt that the most die-hard Star Wars fans will be delighted by this series, which they would almost dare to describe as a little TV gem.
