Actors Niels Schneider (“Sympathy for the Devil”) and Valerie Lemercier (“Aline”) will star in the film “Wasp 22”, the first French-language production from director Woody Allen (“Blue Jasmine”).

The details of the plot are kept under wraps. It is only known that it is a “poisonous romantic thriller”, as Allen himself defines it, who also compared the project to “Final Point: Match Point” (2005).

Filming of “Wasp 22” begins in November in France. Recently, the director denied rumors that this would be his last film before his retirement. But Allen went to shoot in France, with French actors, because he faces a boycott in the United States, after being “canceled” by bailing out allegations of abusing his adopted daughter Dylan in the 1990s.

“Wasp 22” will be Allen’s second work shot in France. He won the Oscar for Best Screenplay with the first, “Midnight in Paris”, which 10 years ago featured Marion Cotillard and Léa Seydoux, but left the lead roles to American artists.

Niels Schneider is known for his collaboration with Canadian director Xavier Dolan, having worked on the young director’s first two films: “I Killed My Mother” (2009) and “Imaginary Loves” (2010).

Valérie Lemercier, in turn, has worked in productions known to international audiences, such as the comedy “Monte Carlo” (2011), with Selena Gomez, and “Asterix and Obelix: In the service of Her Majesty” (2012), adaptation of the comics . by Alberto Uderzo.
