The ninth and final season of “The Flash” will mark the debut of a new version of one of the more traditional characters of the hero Rogues’ Rogues. Actor Richard Harmon (John Murphy of “The 100”) was cast to play Owen Mercer, Captain Boomerang.
Nick Tarabay (“Spartacus”) played Digger Harkness, the previous Captain Boomerang of the Arrowverse, who was killed in the fifth season of “Arrow”. But he never crossed paths with The Flash (Grant Gustin).
The character has also appeared in films, played by Jai Courtney in both “Suicide Squad” films.
According to The CW’s description, the new Captain Boomerang would be the result of the post-Crisis changes on Infinite Earths. He recently came out of Iron Heights jail with a bill to settle and will pose a dangerous and violent threat to Central City, the city of The Flash.
Since the season will be shorter, Boomerang should be the main villain of the last few chapters.
After nine years of production, the DC Comics superhero series will conclude mid-season 2023 with just 13 episodes.
Season 8 ended June 29 as one of The CW’s most viewed shows of the year, averaging 1 million live viewers and one of the channel’s largest ratings on digital platforms.

But since then, the “Legends of Tomorrow”, “Supergirl”, “Black Lightning”, “Batgirl” and “Arrow” series have been canceled and two of them, “Legends” and “Batgirl”, have been suspended. this year.
In addition to “The Flash”, the CW network will bid farewell in 2023 to another Berlanti production that marked an era in its programming: “Riverdale”.
The conclusion of both shows comes between multiple cancellations and a reduction in original productions, in a transition from programming on The CW after being sold by partners Warner Bros. TV and CBS Studios to television group Nextstar last month.
