The return of the horror franchise “Final Destination” to theaters defined its directors.

The duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, responsible for the award-winning indie sci-fi “Freaks” (2018), have been chosen by the New Line studio to direct “Final Destination 6”, the continuation of the deadly saga.

They outpaced competition from other directors after a Zoom call with producers, which avoided the need to do new interviews with project candidates.

After they made their proposal during the video call, the fireplace in her living room spread fire into the room. The filmmakers cut off the call and, during a tense moment, managed to put out the flames. When they sat down, everyone was relieved that the incident had been resolved. But then there was a piercing creak and suddenly the ceiling fan broke and flew down, decapitating one of the directors.

Instantly, producers went from worries to outright laughter. Combining pre-recorded footage and visual effects, Lipovsky and Stein made a franchise-style joke and won everyone’s admiration and preference.

For those who don’t remember, “Final Destination” was one of the most enduring horror franchises of the 2000s. Each of the five films, screened from 2000 to 2011, featured a group of young men who miraculously escaped death. to, immediately after, begin to die, one by one, in bizarre accidents, in a showdown of Death itself. The films grossed $ 657 million worldwide.

The script for the new film was developed by Guy Busick, of the current “Scream” reboot, and Lori Evans Taylor, who is the author of American soap operas such as “Wicked Wicked Games” and “Desire”. Jon Watts, the director responsible for the new billion-dollar Spider-Man trilogy, and original producer Craig Perry, are producing.

The original plot idea, among other things, came from Watts and his wife, Dianne McGunigle (producer of the “Atlanta” series).

“Diana and I have been Final Destination fans since the first movie. Being able to help create the next franchise story with the original team and New Line Cinema will be a lot of fun,” Watts said in a statement.
