Dahmer on Netflix: One victim’s family member rages against the series

Created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, the TV series Dahmer: Monster – The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer recreates the “Milwaukee Cannibal” case. In total, between 1978 and 1991, criminals killed 17 men. Actor Evan Peters brilliantly portrays this man who would take his victims home before drugging, killing and destroying them.

The project on Netflix attracts many curious people. Among the avalanche of reactions, one testimony stands out: the cousin of Jeffrey Dahmer’s eleventh victim, Errol Lindsey. A 19-year-old young man was killed on July 23, 1991. His sister, Rita Isbell, was present at the trial and exploded in front of the villains.

It’s painful, this moment is broadcast on American channels at that time. In episode 8, this sequence is created identically. The comparison between the archive images and the series has even been seen by millions of Internet users.

The court scene, detailed in episode 8.

It was through this comparison that the cousin of Errol Lindsey and Rita Isbell shared his outrage on Twitter: “I don’t dictate what you watch, I know true crime is so hot right now, but if you really care about the fate of the victim, my family, the Isbells, are mad about this series..”

He follows: “It’s the same injury over and over again. All this for what? How many movies, series and documentaries do we need? Reviving my cousin’s rage at the trial of the man who tortured and killed his brother is insane. It’s crazy.”

In two other posted messages, a man named Eric explains that the family was not notified or paid to use the images, which belong to the public archive. “My family discovered it along with others“, he explains.

So when they say they are doing it out of “respect for the victims” and “respect for the dignity of the families”, no one warns them.he claims. My cousins wake up every three months to calls, texts and not knowing another Dahmer fic exists. It’s cruel.”
